The Skill of Composure

What is Composure?

Composure is the foundation of Conscious Discipline and the skill we focus on this month. It’s about “being the person you want others to become.” Before we can help children regulate, we must first regulate ourselves. This means noticing when we’re triggered, calming our own state, and modeling composure for our students. Remember: The only person I can make change is myself.

🔎 Reflection Prompt: This week, pause and ask yourself: How am I showing composure when my child(ren) are upset or off-task? What do they see me model?
